History of education in Horažďovice region in the years 1845 - 1947

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the history of education in the area of the town Horažďovice in years 1845 - 1947 and is divided in two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part begins with introduction of history of town Horažďovice and it's oldest history of education in the area. The next chapter follows with post-revolutionary evolution of school education since 1848 to the end of the second World War. The thesis also describes local and worldwide historical affairs, that had impact on evolution of education in specified area. In following chapters, the thesis covers the evolution of different schools in Horažďovice and it's adjacent areas, that recorded great expansion. Last chapter describes catholic Congregation of Scholastics Sisters, which has one of it's seats in Horažďovice and also influenced the education in the area. Practical part of the thesis focuses on qualitative analysis of contents of school chronicles in stated time period. It mainly investigates reasons of establishment of selected schools, as well as the trend in the number of pupils. Afterwards the thesis focuses on three research questions. These questions compare information that are described in individual school chronicles. Questions target years 1939 - 1947 and the influence of Germanization on school education in Horažďovice and it's adjacent area. The practical part is finished by discussion that is enriched with the author's own opinions on this problematic.
The Nazi ideology in relation to persons with mental disabilities

Diploma thesis "Nazi ideology in relation to mentally ill people" focuses on starting points and ideas of this ideology, which in its consequences led to social exclusion and subsequent systematic extermination of people with a certain handicap. Although the thesis is limited in time from 1933 - 1945, it also follows development line of selected scientific disciplines, which were significantly reflected in the Nazi ideology. Primarily it concerns historical science, medical disciplines, genetics, racial hygiene, eugenic origins and other related disciplines. The thesis also takes into account the economic situation of that time with its many social problems which arose as a result of the new geopolitical arrangement after the World War I and the changes in the social world of that period and it also captures the process of changes in the social status of mentally ill people in the course of history. Last but not least, it describes the practical consequences of these changes, which were "forced sterilization" and "euthanasia" of both children and adults. The Nazi ideology is viewed in this regard from three perspectives: legal, theoretical with a broader historical context and on the practical level in the form of the consequences of the two previous perspectives. Drug Policy in the Third Reich: Ideology vs. Practice

This final bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of drug policy in the Third Reich and aims to map the contradiction that arose in the challenging conditions of World War II between the official Nazi ideology, on which the legislation of that time was based, and practice in the German army and among Nazi top leaders. In the first part, the presented paper deals with legislation concerning narcotics and addictive substances in the period of the Weimar Republic and subsequently in the period of the Third Reich, including several international conventions that were binding for the member states of the League of Nations, where Germany was a member till 1933. In the second part, the paper focuses on scientific research in the field of chemistry and pharmacy, in the thirties of the 20th century which resulted in development of addictive stimulants. Their use in the armed forces of the German Wehrmacht and among the highest Nazi leaders is then dealt with in the third part of this paper. In conclusion, the thesis summarizes the discrepancy that arose in this regard during the Second World War between the state-constituting Nazi ideology and war practice.
